I had everything ready for the two unexpected guests who like to do a mosaic wqrkshop
“I already know what I’m going to make,” he said enthusiastically, “the symbols for the elements.”
Nicole makes a disappointed face: “Oooo, I wanted to do that!” They look at each other and laugh. Me too. “If you are such a unity as you are, well… you get that. You think the same.”
Paul smiles and says: “I’m always so enthusiastic, and then I start making up all kinds of things, and then sometimes Nicole gets annoyed because then I start telling her what to do … so I just hold back a little now.” Nicole looks at him sweetly. And I view this lovely scene with a feeling of: oh yes, that’s how it was …
They haven’t even known each other that long, but they moved in together when the virus struck in March. That may have been a bit quick, but it was either that or stay away from each other for nobody knew how long – months. And when you just fell in love, that is an impossible task.
“It took us quite a while to make the decision to leave,” says Nicole as she places the colored pieces of tile on her design. I think long? You have not known each other for a year, and it is quite a big decision to leave everything behind and see if Portugal is a good country to live in.
Nicole is busy with the elements, while Paul is mosaicing a large mushroom
You can be busy in silence, when you make a mosaic, but often whole life stories surface. “Oh yes”, I think as they say, “that’s the way it was, when you’re young, it might take you a while to decide something like that, but you’re going to do it. And then so enthusiastic. So full of zest and lust-for-life – so sweet! ”
My mom used to say, “Hey, watch it! You can’t talk and knit at the same time!” – but that is not true with mosaic making. You can talk and make a mosaic at the same time.
And the result of their first mosaic artwork is not disappointing.
